Silvio Irilli is an Italian artist who spreads joy and comfort in hospitals through the murals he paints as part of his project called Ospedali Dipinti.
Silvio Irilli, the Italian artist, has conceived a project with the aim of adding color, positivity, and happiness to the smooth walls of a hospital. The idea is to provide comfort to patients and visitors, even in an environment not so pleasant.
So, through the Ospedali Dipinti project, requested by nonprofit organizations, he ensures that visitors can, at least for a moment, forget the fears and anxieties that hospital visits may bring and instead admire his surprising and vibrant works of art.
“… The most requested theme is the sea theme with underwater landscapes, corals, and the joy of dolphins telling us that ‘without water, there would be no life, but in the water, there is a wonderful life’,” the artist said.
The Ospedali Dipinti project was conceived in 2012, and since then, murals have been created in more than 25 hospitals, along with over 7300 m2 of decoration. The idea arose after the first artwork made in the radiation therapy bunker of the Polyclinic Gemelli in Rome, where the entire room was painted from walls to ceiling, and the feedback from patients was immediate.
